Project Economist

  • BA Hons (Public Policy)
  • BCA (Economics, Public Policy)

Shaun joined BERL in 2013 and has considerable experience providing advice and analysis to a wide range of stakeholders including industry, not-for-profit and Government representatives. Shaun's expertise includes interpreting the intent of technical information produced by government and industry groups and communicating it to a general audience.

Prior to joining BERL, Shaun was the Policy Manager at the Industry Training Federation where he led the sector’s response to the Industry Training Review and was responsible for maintaining relationships with relevant Government and non-Government agencies. Before that, Shaun was an influential driver behind the merger of two Industry Training Organisations.

In his time at the Department of Labour (now part of MBIE) and the Ministry of Social Development, Shaun supported Government’s engagement with regions and economic development agencies and led, or was a key contributor to, a number of high profile projects including The Social Report and Annual Regional Labour Market Reports. Shaun has also been responsible for providing briefings to relevant Ministers, stakeholders and developing ‘joined-up’ reports across Government agencies.

Outside of work, Shaun can be found constantly testing his limits, whether it be at the playound with his children, doing home renovations, at the gym or running marathons.
